BEES and OTHER INSECTS

Spencer Hardy is a biologist with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and an expert in bees. For the past 4+ years, he has traversed the state chasing bees and trying to better understand the status of these incredible insects in Vermont. We now know there are more than 350 species here and we have assigned conservation rankings to most of them, but many questions remain. While some species are very challenging to identify, more than 100 species can be identified in the field – we can expect to find several species of bumble
bees as well as examples of five of the six bee families
