The 2024 Eclipse At The Preserve

A group of 25 assembled at the Krusch Preserve 4/8/24 to view the once in a lifetime (for most of us) experience of a total eclipse of the Sun, the amazing  experience of being in a location on our planet which is directly in line with the Sun and the Moon.

Equiped with protective glasses, we watched the Moon slowly cover the Sun, the shadows grow and creep, the air suddenly grow colder, and then the amazing disappearance of the Sun, until only the Bailey’s beads of light remained, and then darkness- three minutes when we could look directly at the Sun and see only the halo surrounding it. All around the horizon was a sunset (or sunrise) like glow.  A truly awe inspiring sight.

Many of the group left as the bright light of the Sun returned, but eight of us remained to watch (again through our protective glasses) the full form of the Sun gradually emerge as the moon moved on in its endless cycle around our planet. As with all who saw the Great American Eclipse, it was an experience we will never forget.
